Lawsuit Alleges St. Thomas More School Failed to Protect Student From Abuse by Priest Later Named on Credibly-Accused Lists
A former student of St. Thomas More School in Oakdale, Connecticut has filed suit against the school, alleging it failed to protect him from sexual abuse by Fr. Edward McGrath, the school’s live-in chaplain and counselor, during the 1992–1993 school year. The complaint was filed in Connecticut Superior Court, Judicial District of New London.
In police youth program, abuse often starts when officers are alone with teens in cars
In May, prosecutors in Seattle charged a sheriff’s deputy with raping a 17-year-old girl. The deputy met the teenager while he was an adviser in his department’s youth mentorship program known as Explorers.
The victim, now 24, came forward in May to report the abuse, which she alleges took place in 2017 and 2018. The assaults allegedly began after King County Sheriff’s Deputy Ricardo Arturo Cueva told her she was cute and that he liked her while they were alone on a ride-along in his police SUV.
Decade of Terror: Bristol Woman Sues DCF for Failing to Protect Her from Serial Rape
Crystal, a 29-year-old woman from Bristol, has filed a $30 million claim against the state Department of Children and Families (DCF) for failing to investigate allegations of daily sexual assault by Roger Barriault between ages 9 and 20. Judge Denies Accelerated Rehabilitation for Roy’s Pools Owner

Bus Driver Sues State Troopers Following Arrest
A Peter Pan bus driver, Wendy Helena Alberty, has filed a lawsuit against two Connecticut state troopers, alleging unlawful arrest and malicious prosecution. Alberty claims the troopers ignored video evidence that showed she did not intentionally lock a passenger in the luggage compartment. The charges against Alberty were dropped, but she is seeking justice for the wrongful arrest. The case highlights concerns about racial bias, as Alberty is Black and the passenger is white.
Passenger’s Frantic 911 Call from Luggage Compartment Released
Connecticut State Police released a 911 call from a woman trapped in the luggage compartment of a Peter Pan bus. The woman, who was locked in by the bus driver, called 911 in a panic, stating she had no battery left and was afraid. The bus was tracked and stopped on Interstate 84, and the woman was found unharmed. The bus driver, Wendy Helena Alberty, was arrested and charged with unlawful restraint and reckless endangerment.
