Hartford School Counselor Charged with Sexual Assault of Student

Bryan Bass, a 37-year-old former guidance counselor at Weaver High School in Hartford, has been charged with two counts of second-degree sexual assault and one count of fourth-degree sexual assault. The charges stem from allegations made by a student who initially denied any incidents but later reported that Bass had sexually assaulted her multiple times in May, both at school and in Bloomfield.

The allegations surfaced when a friend of the student reported the incidents to the school’s principal, prompting an investigation by the Hartford Police Department. The school placed Bass on administrative leave in June and notified the State Department of Children and Families. Termination proceedings were initiated, and Bass eventually resigned from his position.
